The school is recognized as the first Central Board of Secondary Education school in Chennai. The school has three more educational institutions: Asan Memorial Matriculation School, Asan Memorial College and Asan Memorial State Board School. The school has a playground for sports from football to kho-kho and a basketball court.
The schools holds cultural event Genesis for the 11th and 12th students, inviting students from other schools in the city to perform in the event. The Madras Week, which marks the founding of the city, comes in August as Chennaiites in school show their love for the city.
